Acer V3- 772G Disk usage at 100%

Earlier when I had my laptop (probably around 1/4 of a year?), I had problems with my disk usage being at 100% while I was doing nothing. After messing around with different solutions I was able to fix it. However, sometime after an update from windows, it started up all over again. I tried tons of different paths to fix it – it helped somewhat, but not entirely. I wish I could list all the things I did, but I can no longer remember all. (I disabled some programs, changed programs at start up, etc. ). Fortunately, my disk is no longer at 100% usage all the time, but it still has its moments. Usually upon startup it will be slow because the usage is up, as well as at random times. I saw on the forms something simular, but I have no idea if my problem is related or not because I have no idea how to go about it. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

(Also if any information is needed, just ask. I haven't done this before so i'm not sure what is needed.)

Re: Acer V3- 772G Disk usage at 100%

First, you don't need post this twice. :smileywink:

Second, what you are describing is the normal behavior of Windows since Windows Vista. Windows is using idle time to index your files, maintain file system information of your logical volumes and defragment your files. This takes usually place if you don't use your system. To prevent Windows from this behavior you will have to change scheduled tasks and/or change the maintenance settings.

But I wouldn't recommend this. After a few days, Windows has the most work done. Only after a reboot or wake-up the prefetch mechanism is heavy working on your disk. But this should usually last only a few minutes.
