Acer Travelmate P255-MG cannot install graphics adapter driver for Windows 7

Hi,

I am new commer here and this is my first post.

I have recently purchased this nice laptop:

Acer TravelMate P255, Intel Core i3-4010U (1.70GHz, 3MB), 15.6" FullHD (1920x1080) LED-backlit Anti-Glare, HD Cam, 4096MB 1600MHz DDR3L, 1TB HDD, DVD+/-RW, AMD Radeon R7 265 2GB, 802.11n, BT 4.0, Linux №: NX.V9GEX.004

I would like to change it's preinstalled Linux with a Windows 7 version. But I don't know which exact versions of Windows 7 this particular model is compatible with, because I failed to install the AMD graphics adapter driver from the support DVD disk on a Windows 7 64bit. Do I miss something ? Need I, for example, make any changes in the BIOS ?

I have found same drivers to download, but none of them was successfull for my laptop.

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Thank everybody in advance !

   Best regards,

Yes IronFly, I did.

With no success.

Actually it started a Catalyst Installation, but in it's list of components to be installed, there were only these:

   1. OEM Application Profiles

   2. AMD Catalyst Install Manager

   3. AMD APP SDK Runtime

and no such thing as a "DRIVER" at all !

And it indeed didn''t install a graphics driver, as I could see in Device Manager.

Thank you for your participation and support !

What's on device manager under graphic adapter?

please uninstall any graphic drivers and try this:

Thank you very much, IronFly, for your second advice.

Meanwhile I have found the same driver, but from  support.amd.com  website.

And - at last - it happened to be the right driver !

I am now really very happy with this success !

At the same time, I remain very surprised with the fact, that this laptop - Acer TravelMate P255-MG, accepts

ONLY 64bit graphics driver.

Now, on device manager under "graphics adapters" I have this couple:

     AMD Radeon R7 M265 Series

Intel HD Graphics Family  (which is active by default)

So now I don't know if I can set the Radeon R7 to be the default driver (in BIOS SETUP I have "Graphics Mode" set

to [ Switchable ]). Maybe the switching is possible only automatically as a function of the graphis load ?

Do you know something about that ?

Anyway, thank you again for your support !

Great luck !

Switchable means that the system decides when use one GPU...

Switchable means that the system decides when use one GPU or the other.

i dont' know if it's possible to set only one GPU as main, give it a try in BIOS if any option is available.

keep in mind, that some BIOS options will be available only when you set a supervisor password, if you set it...WRITE IT somewhere or it will be a serious issue if you forget a BIOS supervisor password.

Thank you again IronFly. I didn't know this BIOS password...

Thank you again IronFly.

I didn't know this BIOS password trick about.

But I decided not to do this risky try, for now.

Because my situation is not a matter of emergency, after all.

Maybe some day in the future...

Best regards !
