Ok, the subject was a heartwarming gift. Presently the computer, which has been in my possession for 16 months, is running as quiet as coulld be-it usually does. However there are times that there are sounds that do not seem normal. The local Office Max manager told me that all laptops make sounds in particular after a year of use. I asked him if he thought that if the computer was sent to Acer if they could elimiante the extra sound(s). He says the sound(s) are normaal, and Acer would just send the computer back to me. I have read about a motorboat sound or grindind. Whichever are these sounds fixable o that they are not heard? Thank you for any responses. Philip

It's possible you may get more help if you post on the laptop forum as you have inadvertently posted on the android tablet forum. The noise and vibration you describe could be the start of the failure of your hard drive. If I were you I'd back up all my files just in case and if you Google "hard drive health" or "hard drive diagnostics", there are programmes you can download for free which will check the stability of your drive.
