I recently bought Acer Aspire V5 - 471 model with no OS on it so I bought Windows 8 separately. The installation was successful but then I figured out that multigesture touchpad is not working. I installed the Synaptic driver that I downloaded from http://www.acer.co.id/ac/en/ID/content/drivers but still not working. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any Acer regions shipping the system without an operating system.
I would suggest ordering recovery media for the system so you can restore it to factory defaults.
Please visit our Acer Store and click on eRecovery.

After many months of my Touch Pad not scrolling etc, since I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7, I seen this post somewhere (not on here) and they had the same problem.
I had tried the latest ELANTECH drivers, which is the one suggested for an upgraded Notebook (Aspire V5 571G), but the person in the post said don't use the Elantech driver, use the Synaptics driver (16.0.2.0) which is actually a Windows 7 driver and now it is perfect!!! I can now scroll and pinch zoom etc, everything I want from the touchpad.

Hello, i found the solution to the problem that happend to me and did the steps below.
Reinstall the touchpad by clicking on start, all programs, acer, acer recovery management, restore, reinstall drivers and applications, contents and look for touchpad driver and reinstall by clicking on the green arrow on the right handside. If that doesnt work, download and install the latest touchpad driver from: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

Hi, when I first started to read your fix for the problem, where you said, "Click on Start, then All Programs" etc, I thought, he hasn't got Windows 8?? As you ouuld know hasn't got a Start button etc. lol. But checking out your excellent little video, I see you definately have Windows 8.
With my fix in the post above yours my touchpad now works a treat, doing what I did, but maybe I could use your techneque of reloading drivers to fix the annoying problem I have, with not being able to open my CD/DVD drawer by pressing the little button. Now, since I have upgraded from Windows 7 to 8, I have to go to "My Computer", right click the DVD RW Drive and right click "eject", to open the drawer. I know I should put/ask this problem in another thread.

I had a similar disfunctioning touchpad, along with an "operating system not found" problem. When I downloaded a BIOS update from the "operating system not found" thread posted by SteveC, it fixed both problems.
