Acer Aspire Timeline U Rejects (?) Motorola Device Manager Needed for Moto G USB Connection

The Device Manager 2.4.5 software downloaded from Motorola to enable me to connect my Moto G phone to my Acer (System 7, Norton 360) via USB cable does not install properly, but it works fine on my older Dell laptop (also System 7, Norton 360). Answers By, Acer's third-party tech support provider, says they fix that every day, and, for just $99, will work on it, but no guarantees. Any suggested solutions would be gratefully received.

What error do you get when you try to install the software?

Are you installing from a download, USB drive, or CD/DVD?

If you connect your phone to your computer with USB cable, do you see the device listed in your Computer?
