Hello stalwarts,
I purchased an Acer Aspire One Happy 2 Netbook (10.1") 3 years back and off late experiencing heating problems.
So i gave it to the service station nearby whose engineer has reported that the cooling fan needs to be replaced. I have two questions.
a.) Is it absolutely necessary to replace the cooling fan as i have heard that cleaning the fan also helps in getting the lappy back to how it was. If it is the case that fan is not working at all, what is the approximate amount of cash i will have to shell out if the fan is to be replaced. I am from Mumbai, India.
b.) The Engineer also reports 'Bad Sector' in my 320 GB HDD which is going to cost me INR 6.3K for a 500 GB HDD. The Bad Sector constitutes only 12KB of size. Is it absolutely necessary to have the HDD replaced or can i live with the 12KB Bad Sector for some more time. If Yes, is there any method to make sure that the Bad Sector wont affect my day to day chores ? My main question is ... is this bad sector in my HDD a 'show-stopper' ??

You can use a vacum cleaner to clean the vents...also download this fan control...www.computentsystems.de/aceraspireonefancontrol/
As for HHD - back up your data to a pen drive,so you have all your Files when your HHD fails ,could be next week or next year. You could use CCleaner (just google it- for the download site )they also have sepcee so you could see if your Temp.'s are too high...max 90 C but 70 C is safer.
