Hi Randy here.
I wish to run virtualbox on my acer aspire e1-531 but i can't enable hardware virtualization because the bios menu is to simplifyed.
i need to enable hardware virtualization in order to use the specific rom on virtualbox so i was wondering if it is possible to either upgrade my bios to a version with more fuctionality or to downgrade to an earlyer version?
or if its possible to enable hardware virtualization without having to enter the bios menu?
Kind Regards, Randy

There isn't such bios version. You'll have to save your bios and post it in some bios modding forum and hope that someone will help you and that the new bios will work without causing any permanent damage to your system ![]()

Which CPU do you have?
The Intel B960 unfortunately doesn't support Vitualization.
The Intel 2020M does support VT-x but not VT-d.
You can also run the following to determine if your CPU is capable:
I am of the mind that any Acer machine that is capable will have support enabled in the BIOS and consequently doesn't require a BIOS entry. To confirm this, run the detection tool:

I've Acer Aspire 5740 with inter(R) core(TM) i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13 Ghz processor and i wana install virtualbox on which i want to create VM of windows server 2008 R2 x64 but get error " the underlying system is not compatible for x64 version" despite of having my host OS as windows 8 x64. I searched a lot for solutions but couldn't find appropriate one. One relevant suggestion was to enable Hardware virtualization but Boot menu has no such option when i press F2 or F12. I am using Oracle VM VirtualBox Kindly suggest a solution for me.
