Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Hello

My Acer 8530G has a problem.

It was left on for 2 hours and when I came back the laptop was turned off by itself.

I tried to turn on again, the power button lit, black screen and shuts off after 6 seconds.

It was never turned on again.

I started to make some checks listed below.
1)RAM, hard disk, DVD rom.. all was OK.
2)LCD inverter by disconnecting.... no result.
3)Tried to make a BIOS recover by Crisis boot of Acer but it doesn't even goes to Bios recover during start up.
4)I was suspecting graphic card since it has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 1GB and change the polymer caps, resolder GPU but still the same.
(I don't want to spend 120$ in purchasing a ney graphic card unless I am 100% sure that this is the reason.)
5) It seems that various voltages of the mobo are correct but I didn't go to deeper detailed check since I don't have the schematics.

Can you help me please?

Gmar, there is a 10% chance that your three year old desktop replacement will respond to this cure. Not good odds, but it's easy to do and won't cost you anything.

Turn it off, unplug it, and remove the battery. Hold the power button down for one minute. Replace the battery, plug it in, and start it up.

Hope this helps.

Re: Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Vince53,

How does one "remove the battery"?

I have an Aspire S3 notebook on which I would like to try what you (and many others) say, the 30 second button hold down test, but I dont see how the battery can be removed without opening up the entire unit, which is of course a warranty-voiding taboo...

Re: Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Igetfedup, I can't find instructions for your specific model, but every laptop that I know of requires you to unsnap the battery. The battery is actually attacked to the battery lid, and the entire unit is unsnapped and removed in one piece. I did find this tutorial that explains the process http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001128.htm

Hope this helps.

Re: Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Vince53,

Thanks for trying but there is no latch whatsoever to "unsnap" the battery on any part of my notebook. Maybe because it is not a laptop, it is a notebook? Nothing that looks like the photos in that link you provided; just a silver plate about the size of a cigarette package (wash my mouth) underneath. It has serial numbers on it & looks like something that a tech might be able to pry loose and remove but I personally dont dare try it.

I did find the instruction manual for my model online but it says nothing whatsoever about how to replace a battery, just the usual "visit your local repair place blah blah blah..." if the battery fails.

Re: Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Addendum to my own posting.

Just discovered from reading posts in other forums that the batteries in Aspire S3 models are "fixed" and not removable without warranty-defying extensive dismantling. Guess we're supposed to just throw the computer away when the battery dies after 1 year warranty as cost of shop repair to change the battery would probably be close to the price of a new computer. Ha yes, the wonderful things we find out after we have left the store...

Re: Acer Aspire 8530G no power up

Yes but when I will go to the techincal support the Goodmorning costs 25Euros...

Meanwhile I am electronic engineer and I can  replace alsmost any chip in the motherboard if there is a defect one.

I only need someone with the experiece like you to divert me where I should search.

As I saw to the net many 8530G laptops have the same problem meaning that something is damaging inside after 3 years....

So PLEASE just tell me where to look..
