Acer Aspire 5810-4657 Black Screen! HELP plz!

Need help with a friends laptop. It is a Acer Aspire 5810-4657

When I turn it on it shows the acer logo and then shows loading windows files.

After that the screen goes black and all I see is the mouse pointer.

I'm thinking it's the bios problem but unsure on how to update the bbibos via USB.

If anyone has any solutions it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried getting into Windows by safemode? If that's not an option, I would look at recoverying the system before trying to tinker with the BIOS outside of Windows.

[ Editado ]

I've noticed after leaving it turned on for a good while the black screen with my mouse pointer will turn a light grey color.

Looks like windows background kinda. I'll try safe mode and recovery first.

Can't get safe mode to come up or recovery mode. I press alt + f10 at the acer logo and nothing.

I hold down F8 during boot and nothing.

Just says Windows is loading files then goes to the Operating System screen with the bbar at the bottom and the green lines going across then goes to a black screen, then a mouse pointer will appear then after abbout 20 minutes a grey screen pops up.

Sounds like the backlight's out. So at a high leve there are 2 high level scenarios:

The backlight has been turned off:

You would probably see the boot screen, maybe even the Windows load logo, and as soon as Windows loaded, it would turn off. There are function commands to turn the backlight on and off most notebooks (usually FN+F5 or FN+F6)

The backlight has gone out:
This sounds like what you're experiencing, and the backlight for the LCD has gone out. You wouldn't see anything at any time, except for a faint image. you could possibly hold a flashlight up to the monitor and see more that way.

Re: Acer Aspire 5810-4657 Black Screen! HELP plz!

I got the safe mode sscreen to show once, forgot what I kept pressing to show.

When I press FN+F5 = Nothing FN+F6 the screen turns off

When I plug my HDMI cable up to it and an external monitor NOTHING.

So, trying to get the boot options to come back up so I can enter safe mode. Just forgot what I pressed, isn't it F8 to enter boot options?

I believe F8 Are you seeing the Acer Splash screen? At any point in the boot are you seeing the screen?
