Hey Acer community 

Recently my 5253 cut-out on me, after I tried restarting it and it wouldn't turn on, now anytime I plug the charger into my laptop the light on the charger box itself goes off.... Any ideas what could be the problem? I tried holding the power button for 1-minute, didn't help. 

I want to try another charger tommorow to see if thats the problem also.

Hm, that sounds like a fairly serious electrical short, and in that case, changing the charger will not solve the problem.  Hopefully another charger that you try will not be damaged by any short.  Does the light of the original charger come back on when you disconnect it from the laptop and/or the power?  That could be further evidence of a short.

Solving a short could be simple or complicated, depending on the cause, cheap or expensive.

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply, when I unplug the charger the light on the brick still stays off, I have to unplug it then plug it back to get the light on again.

OK, that's good info, and seems to confirm my suspicion of a short in the computer.  This could mean an entire replacement, or it could just be a cheap repair.  Someone reliable with electronics experience could be able to help you.
