AO722 hard disk firmware update

I have an Acer AO722-0022 netbook. On the Acer support website downloads page, at the bottom of the BIOS downloads section, a firmware update "to improve hard disk performance" is listed. The listing is " Vendor WD, version 9545". Can I use this update? My hard drive is WD5000BPVT-22HXZT3 (500 GB).

Yes, it should be safe to run this update. The update will check to make sure your HDD doesn't already have it and ensure that it is appropriate for your current HDD. Otherwise the update will not occur and you will be informed.
