Is acer p196 hql is a LED Monitor I purchased acer p 196 hql month ago The Box shows it is a LED   but the Monitor shows it is a LCD Monitor what is the truth. Is Acer is selling LCD Monitors in the box showing it is a LED Monitor ?  I paid INR 1000.00

extra to the vendor because he told me it is a LED Monitor. But when I checked the Monitor I found it is a LCD Monitor

(ACER LCD Monitor written on the back of the Monitor), it is misleading/confusing what is the truth ?.

Ok, here what is going on with this. Both technologies are in this monitor. They are mostly in all the common monitors out there now. I found the explination on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED-backlit_LCD_display.

An LED-backlit LCD display is a flat panel display which uses LED backlighting instead of the cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) backlighting used by most other LCDs.[1] LED-backlit LCD TVs use the same TFT LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) technologies as CCFL-backlit LCD TVs. Picture quality is primarily based on TFT LCD technology, independent of backlight type. While not an LED display, a television using this display is called an “LED TV” by some manufacturers and suppliers.[1] In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority has made it clear in correspondence that it does not object to the use of the term “LED TV”, but requires it to be explained in advertising.[2]

Thanks for your clarification.

I want to know Acer P196HQL is a pure LED Monitor ?

Why Acer write LCD Monitor on back  of the Monitor they should

also indicate LCD Monitor on the packing of the Monitor. I don't

expect such type of misleading/confusing marketing from  a leading

brand like Acer. The company must clarify this on the packing of the

Monitor. May I know what is the official clarification of the Acer 

in this regard.

i have just buy the same monitor from local vendor, i foud he cheated me by showing LED on the Box, now he is still stick that this is LED while back side of monitor clearly shows that it is LCD screen. Pls advice me from where i have to do complain. as i want LED screen while this is LCD. Really i dont like this type of misdeclarion. How can we suggest our friends to buy ACER products while this type of cheating happend with us. Awaiting your reply

I am fully agree with you.  Same happened to me also. On 22nd March 2013 I bought this Monitor P196HQL with serial no. MML******** but luckily vendor has given me the bill for LED monitor whereas its no doubt that its an LCD Monitor. Now the vendor has promised me to replace the same by next week.  As per the rule either we should get the product replaced with correct item or full refund.

Yes guys even i got cheated by the same monitor.. this is not LED but it says LED on the box and the vendor also said its LED.

I put a mail to the acer guys no body responded. they have a very bad customer service section.

we need the clarification from the acer. why is this happening....

i came to know just now .. even my friend also got the same kind of problem...

i think all these monitor models got the problems like this..

is there any explanation from ACER???
