the computer displays a function character rather than regular character when the key is pressed

For some reason, my computer is not recognizing the regular characters of the keys associated with the Fn feature. It seems that the regular characters and the Fn characters are reveresed. Does anyone know how to return my key functions back to normal where the regular key functions are displayed?
