Probably you have a corrupted BCD.

you can easily repair if you have a recovery media or windows installation disk but i need to know the isntalled OS version.

    The OS is Windows 8.

You need a recovery media (USB or DVD) or at least a windows 8 DVD/USB installation disk to repair this error:

    1. Insert Windows DVD* and after selecting language and keyboard, select "Repair your computer"
    2. Wait for system recovery to run and fail
    3. Click "No" to apply any changes
    4. Cick "Next" to look for a recovery image
    5. Click "Cancel" on the cannot find system image dialogue
    6. Click "Cancel" to exit system image dialogue
    7. Click Command Prompt

    8. type bootrec/rebuildbcd

    9. press enter

    10. wait until it finish, remove disc or usb pen and restart your pc

HI, I just received my recovery discs from Acer, but I can't get the computer to run them. I tried to do what the instructions that came with the discs say to do and it does not work. I also tried what you said to do but that doesn't work either. I'm at a loss.  Please help.

    Thanks.

You can't do it with Acer recovery media, with recovery media i meant a recovery disk done with windows.

If you have someone with the same windows as yours ask to create a system recovery media.

By the way, with Acer recovery media, you re-install your OS even on a new HDD, so it was a good purchase.
