aspire 5315 replacement battery doesn't work what can I do?

I have an aspire 5315. I baught a replacement battery for it, and when I put the new battery on the laptop it wouldn't charge or turn on under battery power. It is as if the laptop doesn't recognize the new battery. What can I do to get the new battery to work.

I cleaned the battery terminals with a static free cloth, and the old battery works it just dies right away it is totally dead.

Sounds like your new battery is bad.You can try unplugging and no battery, hold the power button for 15 seconds, plugin and start then install new battery and see if it works, but I think it's just bad.
