Hi all,

I have an Aspire V3-572PG-530Y and I'm having some issues with SafeBoot. I want to make my laptop dual-boot with Linux but can't get the install media to boot unless I switch from UEFI to Legacy in BIOS. Of course, this then means that I can't boot Windows 8.1 after I install.

In order to install my Linux distribution in UEFI mode, I need to disable SafeBoot, but this option is greyed out in BIOS. No matter how I try to access the options, I can never select it - it's always stuck on enabled. I have upgraded to the latest BIOS version on the Acer website but stil can't seem to change the setting.

Is there a way around this?

If not, is there a way to request a BIOS update that enables this option?

You need to set up an administrator password in BIOS, then the secure boot option will be available.
    I'm not an Acer employee.
