Recovery confusion UEFI or Legacy
My wife has an Aspire V-5 431 that she blew up a year ago. Not a common model, the model was built for Amazon to distribute to employees, they changed their minds and sold them all on Woot. I bought two and have been really happy with them.
The machine came with Win 8 on it and was working great till she killed it. She gave it to a friend, instead of telling me (argh), to fix and they put win 7 pro on it. Not what I wanted, but what they did. She let the kids use it and now it is so infected that I just want to start over from scratch.
I ordered the recovery discs from Acer and now I have a problem.
When I put the system disc in and try to boot from the disc the first thing that happens is I get an error that the recovery process must be run in UEFI mode and the process stops.
I go in and change to UEFI from Legacy, start process over.
Now I get to the screen to select a language, Engilsh, then the recovery menu comes up asking if I want to reinstall the OS or do a complete reset to factory settings.
Regardless of which option I choose, I get a message telling me that this process must be run in Legacy mode. I am frustrated and perplexed.
Does this have to do with the OS on the machine not being the origianl? I really don't know. I consider myself pretty tech savy, but this seems to be above my level. If anyone can offer some help I'd be very grateful.
Thanks, Joe

you need to completly wipe your HDD
http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html
download the .iso file
then use a software to burn CD/DVD and burn the .iso file
once done, put the CD/DVD on your desktop, boot from CD (maybe you need to boot under Legacy)
at the desktop
select your HDD
right click on your HDD icon and choose delete all patitions and click on yes and then apply
