Problems with alt/control and delete Acer Aspire laptop using Windows 8-1

Hello. I posted before about problems on my laptop, that turned out to be the hard drive. Now I am finding a few other annoying problems.... The new hard drive has Windows 8-1 on it.

I was having problems with a keyboard issue: was unable to use the shift key; symbols would type as numbers, etc.. Well, it appears that, that problem may be taken care of with a Windows 8-1 update? Now there is just another problem.... I can't sign on to the computer with the alt, control, delete. I have to use the online keyboard each time, as my keyboard doesn't recognize alt/control/delete and doesn't type the password correctly. I can't even start the Task manager as I could before. Does anyone know what the issue may be. I have searched in user control info, settings, help, online help- everything. It's driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem! I've only had this Notebook 2 months!!

In this case, you can try performing System Restore and see if that fixes the issue. To know how to do this, you can refer to the link below:

Thanks. My only concern.... As I said, I had to have a whole new hard drive put in. That was done one week ago, and I have only had the computer back for 4 days. Will/could there be any problems due to the new hard drive, in completely restoring? I think I tried the refresh, but nothing happened- probably due to Windows 8-1 installation???? Before the new hard drive, I had Windows 8 and upgraded to 8-1, and had a terrible problem getting past the bios password, after using the ACER recovery disks. The computer tech who installed my hard drive, said that BIOs is a headache as well. Just a little afraid I might go back to that again.

In this case, try using a different keyboard (if feasible) and see if that works. If it works, then there may be some hardware issue with your keyboard. If the issue still persists, you are advised to contact Acer support through the following link for further assistance:
