Acer travel mate 4060 * upgraded to 2 GB ram and windows 7 Home premiun 32 bit has just been recovered from a crash.

I am sending this  message from the same computer. My built in speakers are not functioning . However when I connect an external speaker  with a USB connection, its working perfectly well. I can watch videos and play music. I checked and it appears that there is no sound device installed.I am urgently in need of help from the community which will be muc appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello DharmaSD,

You have a Realtek sound device.

    Have you tried to install:

1- The Acer driver (Vista). For the Windows 7 compatibility, Read the readme.txt or file.inf

2- The Realtek driver (AC'97 or HD audio codecs)

Try installing the xp sound driver in Windows Compatability mode.

Thank you for your reply.  I have the latest  802.11ac WI-Fi. High definition audio device properties prompts "This device is working properly."  "Best driver software for your device is installed." Windows has determined "The driver soft ware for your device is up to date"

    Driver file details'

    1. C;/windows/system 32/driver/dmk.syst.

    2. C:/windows/system 32/drivers/HdAudio.sys

    3. C:/windows/system 32/drivers/portcls.sys

    4. C:/windows/system 32/drivers/SysFxUl.dll

    5. C:/windows/system 32/drivers/WMALFXGDSP.dll

In all the above 5 files on the left is a square slighlty shaded in brown color.

Microsoft corporation file version 6.1.7601.18276 (win 7 sp 1_gdr.131003.1533..

I have a Logitech speaker with USB connection. When this is connected. The sound is great in audio music and in Video
