My aspire 5738 getting very hot and going shut down repeatedly.. please help..

    Sounds like the fan may be plugged up or damaged and by now the thermal compound on the CPU is brobably completely ineffective. The fan can get plugged inside and you can't tell by looking in the exaust port.

    It needs to be disassembled, cleaned and new thermal compound applied to the CPU.

    yeah, my personal take is that a laptop needs the above treatment yearly.

    Yep,I think the previous posters are probably bang on. Remove the covers and blow the dust out of the interior and clean the fan(s) as much as possible.
