İ have a 8 years old Acer5920g and having same problem with most of 5920g users . My gpu's is dead . Probably because its chronic solder problem . İ dont what is my motherboard right now . İ dont know if gpu is seperated or onboard . My first question is from here . Can i get if its seperated or onboard by its model name ?

Now second question . Lets assume it is onboard and i cannot change only gpu . Can i buy a new random mb and another random gpu something like ... lets say 8600m gt and can those two run fine my old laptop ?

Last question . İf i buy the same model can i change new ones part with old one ? İf i buy another model of 5920g can i change new ones part with old one ?

Those are my specs :
Acer 5920g - 602g16mi
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
Memory:1*2GB &1*1GB RAM
Hard Drive: 250GB hard disk drive
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel PM965 Express chipset with NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

    Hello,

I think you made a mistake. I checked the specifications of this model and it always shipped with a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS - 512Mo. Do you see indications (text) on the printed ciruit board?

Only thing i could see was G86-603-A2 on chipset . İ think it was replaced once . İs there a possibility that this graphic chipset can work well with 5920G with some bios changes ? Mechanic said i have tried around 20 gpu but couldnt manage to get a screen and i sent it to another mechanic with better equipment to change it with 9600m gt . They have said its %100 guaranteed change and gonna do some bios changes for 9600m gt .

Appearantly it was a 8400m gt . İ dont know how it fit to my laptop but chipset name shows it was 8400m gt . Still waiting if they can work laptop with 9600m gt + bios update . İm thinking if it was bios updated for 8400m gt and didnt run with other normal gpus for 5920g like 8600m gt-gs now . Maybe a bios update again for 9600m gt will make it fine

Ok last update . İts fixed . They could run laptop with 9600m gt . İ didnt personally done anything at all . Go to best computer mechanic on your country if you love your old laptop and then give up if it cant be fixed . İt was all about gpu . And yes its confirmed that some 9600m gt s can work fine with 5920g along with some bios updates .

What do you mean by graphic board ? Only thing i know its 9600m gt and working fine . İ saw too much discussions about 5920g and 9600m gt , most of them was telling about those two were failure together but a guy appears to be done well with both . Well guess im lucky Smiley Very Happy
