I have an Acer Aspire E5-511 that stopped booting last saturday, from what I've found I have the black screen of death (or a dead motherboard, but I'm trying to keep it positive). I think I have the proper bios .fd files, but I'm not too sure, and I can't be sure about what to name said file. I can't be sure I'm going into the Crisis mode, but I do know that If I'm holding down fn+esc when I hit the power button then the processor fan runs alot faster. Thx for any help you can give

    CalebQ42,

Sorry you're having problems with the system, I'd like to get some more information.

When you say it's not booting, is that not booting into Windows?

What was the system doing before it crashed, was it having problems?

Do you see anything at all on the screen when you turn it on, like the Acer splash screen?

Are you able to get into the BIOS at all?

When I try to start it there's just a black screen. All was fine the last time I was using Windows, I was actually working on my flash drive. It didn't crash, I turned it off and it hasn't turned on since. No splash screen, no bios, just the fan and the cd\dvd drive.

    CalebQ42,

Okay, thanks for the update. I don't think that flashing the BIOS is going to resolve your problem honestly, I'd suggest having the unit repaired.

Chat with a technician to set up a repair

I do know that I'll probably end up sending it in, but I want to try my best to fix it without sending it off

    CalebQ42,

Understood, I'm the same way and always try everything I can to see if I can fix it.

The chat option I provided was when you wanted to set it up for service with someone rather than on your own. Smiley Happy
