Have Acer Aspire 5733. HD crashed, have 3 b.u.'s, all fail. Can i install Win 7 off MS disk?

Have an Acer Aspire 5733 laptop. Hard Drive crashed. Boot sector gone. 14 y.o. son got a nasty virus. Have a new hard drive, installed it, (by the way, i do work in IT, not familiar with Acer though ...), have 3 back-ups, including original system back-up - all fail ... using 500 gig HDD, just like original, so not larger or smaller. Company i work for has relationship with Microsoft, we can get Windows encvironment or Office at deep discount. Have Windows 7, can i install that, then on other device download drivers??? Asking before i start, had a Dell Vista, AND IT WOULD NOT allow OEM verison ... can Acer????

now it is virus - following occurred, could not load Windows environment after refreshing and running Anti-Virus/Malware program. Upgraded to Windows 10, given prompt to either revert to previous OS - No dice, can not revert ... asked if i wanted to start fresh - no dice, starts then cancels ... thoughts - nice ones please ... thanks,
