E-1 570. Windows 8.1. 15 seconds into startup, screen goes blank. Curser o.k. though.
Any suggestions to sort this Gremlin gratefully received. Startup seems to be going as spec., Acer logo appears, circular arrow goes round then screen goes opaque but obviously still lit. Curser still responds but that's the end of the action.

1) If you have the recovery media, you can boot from there and select Troubleshoot - Advance Setting - Startup setting, then the computer will be restarted in Safe Mode.
or
2) try to force shutdown 2-3 times pressing the power button on black screen with cursor, after few times, Windows will restart in Advance Startup Option, because It detect that something wrong with the Windows because it cannot start up properly.
From there, just select Troubleshoot - Advance Setting - Startup setting, then the computer will be restarted in Safe Mode. When in safe mode, uninstall the VGA drivers and then reboot normally.
if it works, download the latest drivers available for you VGA and install it.

if you press:
left CTRL + SHIFT + ESC
task manager appears?
or
left CTRL + ALT + DEL
gives you any screen option to open task manager?
or if you do left ALT + TAB
can you access desktop?
