I have an Aspire V5-571p and am trying to install the eRecovery disks on it for Windows 8 64-bit. This computer is just shortly out of warranty and started hanging at startup. At this point, there was not a recovery image created so I could not access recovery partition.

At this point I purchased the eRecovery disks and have been trying to install it. It hung at 18%. Now I have finally after several troubleshooting points, pulled out the HDD and formatted NTFS from another computer. When I run the disks using UEFI mode it says I need to put Bios into Legacy Mode. When I run from Legacy Mode I get "Bootmgr is missing" error. Talked to a Acer tech who said I do need to be in Legacy Mode to run the eRecovery disks.

What am I missing?

Don't format the HDD, leave it as raw and retry.

    Boot from UEFI.

The eRecovery disks just hang on the 1st disk. Still stuck.

I suspect some hardware problem, can be:

    1) bad ram stick

    2) faulty HDD
