I swapped the hard drive for a SSD and installed Windows 8.1 64bit from scratch.

Tried the latest audio driver from Realtek (6.0.1.7246 R2.75) but that didn't include Dolby Home Theater.

Uninstalled...

Tried the latest audio driver from Acer (6.0.1.7027) but that didn't install Dolby Home Theater.

Used installer in subdirectory, but software has zero effect.

Tried the latest audio driver from Acer for Windows 8 (6.0.1.6865)

That worked.

Did this notebook reach End Of Life? Last working driver is 1.5 year old!

    Here is what you do:

    go to the drivers page

    sift through Acer's 1000 models

find the most recent Realtek package

    install it (doesn't even matter if it says Windows 7 | 8 | 8.1)

    Here are clues:

    V3-112P has 6.0.1.7283

    V3-572P has 6.0.1.7250
