All,

I'm working on this Netbook for my parents.

It has been used VERY little since new,

has all the Updates installed,

there are NO programs installed outside of the Factory Programs except for MS Security Essentials, and Maliwarebytes.

That said, it is VERY SLOW and sometimes UNRESPONSIVE to keyboard commands.  I know this isn't a high level PC, but is there anything I can do to speed it up so we can search eBay, Facebook and other sites.  No hard computing is needed, just basic simple functions.  It's just to slow now and basically no one will use it.

Thanks.

Ccleaner fragments the registers (very bad experience and the MVP also don't recommended).

Before to defragment HDD and to clean the registers, you can also delete the Internet temporary files.

Could you give me the first ten characters of the serial number?

You'll find it on the label sticked on the lower cover.

    Note:

Windows 7 Starter supports up to 2Gb memory.

Ok, Thanks for the help. Although, I recall this machine working much better when new. Makes me wonder why it acts so sluggish now.

Actually, No- I forgot about that. I'll work on that later today, and report back. Thanks.

You can also clean the registers with this tool (very sure):

Wise Registry Cleaner (Download the portable version - no installation).

Clean useless files using ccleaner, then clean the registry and then defragments the disk to get a Qua performance after going into Control Panel - Action Center - Reliability Monitor to check which files are preventing the operation

Good choice! Leave the defaults selections.

Thanks for all the input, the disk cleanup and defrag worked wonders. Much appreciated. Now if I could just wipe my head so I can remember this simple stuff!
