Aspire E1-731 touchpad not working correctly

I just received my Acer laptop from yesterday, and I'm having issues with the touchpad. It either freezes up a few minutes into using the laptop, goes extremely slow, only goes from left to right, or vibrates rapidly on the screen. I don't even have to be completely touching the pad for this to happen -- it tracks my finger if it hovers close enough (but with the same results). I'm not sure if it's a senstivity issue?? Or how I could fix it if it were.

If I turn off the laptop or put it in Sleep and then restart it, the problem goes away ... but starts again a few minutes later. Support had me reinstall the touchpad driver, but nothing changed.

I don't want to return the laptop, because other than this problem it is exactly what I want. Is there a way that it can be fixed? (I have Windows 7, if that is important)

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the unit so son, let's see if we can get it working right for you. There are a couple things we can try to see if they resolve the issue:

    1. Try a system restore to see if maybe it was Windows updates that created the issue, doubtful, but it happens from time to time.
    2. Attempt to reinstall the drivers from our support site.
    3. Attempt a reload to factory defaults.
