Hi all,

I have a Acer Aspire AOD-260, which comes with 1GB of RAM.

I purchased a 2GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 (which from what I can tell is the same spec as the 1GB currently in the netbook)

When I put the 2GB in - the PC won't boot, I can't even get into the BIOS. (2 of the LED's Remain on - The far left one (with a lightbulb) and the far right (with the signal image)

I put the 1GB back in after and it booted fine.

This is the RAM I purchased - http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kvr13s9s6/2

Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening?

Regards,

Warrick

Buying a DDR3 for the laptop you have bought is not good. You bought something higher than DDR2 which is causing problems in the laptop. Return what you bought and find something similar to DDR2, not DDR3.

    Hi imagining,

    Thanks for the reply.

However this netbook doesn't support DDR2 Memory.

    The AOD-260 I have has a Atom N475

    Hello,

The Aspire One D260 works with DDR2 or DDR3 according the models (3 motherboards).

In your case, you need DDR3 memory stick.

The original memory stick for your netbook is:

    KN.2GB0B.026SODIMM.2GB.DDR3-1333.SAMSUNG.LF

You'll see the Samsung part number on the webpage.

    Thanks for the reply Laurent_14

The netbook doesn't have that Samsung RAM stick, it has:

    Hynix 1GB 1RX8 PC3-10600U-9-10-B1

The memory I bought is the same spec, why won't it work?
