Aspire 5742G new battery fail after SSD upgrade

Member Posts: 1 New User

Hi,

Aspire 5742G-6600; i5-480M, GT540.

Original manufacturers battery died 1.5 years ago, been on utility power only since. Recently purchased new Anker battery, Crucial 8mb to replace 4mb ram, Samsung 250G SSD and upgraded to windows 10. Everything has been smooth since isntall. When I used the GPU for first time on battery, the machine completely turned off and I was unable to boot from the battery. It was dead, anker replaced. After 15 minutes of unlpugged gaming the second battery failed. Recent battery had 15-20k avg discharge rate from Batmon. Discharged and charged both batteries properly in each case. Thoughts?

I'm wondering if the draw from the SSD is too much for the battery with the GPU? If that is the case, then there is a 9 cell battery upgrade on amazon, would that be a possible solution?

Thank you very much for your replys,

J

Suggest trying another battery manufacturer with at least a 90-day return warranty.
