Aspire 5742 Bios Update bricked the machine

I recently updated the BIOS in my Aspire 5742-6248 so that upgraded memory modules would be recognized. The thing is that now the notebook is pseudo-bricked. It boots up and show the post message and I have access to the BIOS menus. But about 3 to 4 seconds imediatelly after the boot continues and Windows tries to load it's libraries it reboots. The old memories were put back into place and are being corretly identified by the BIOS configuration screen but the same problem occurs.

The bios update was done via the DOS flash procedure and was indicated as successful. I can even re-flash the BIOS again but I can't downgrade it. If I try to resintall any system, Windows or Ubuntu the installers trigger a reboot at some point. Windows at the start of the "initial assesment" and Ubuntu right at the loading of the generic drives for the chipset.

Did anyone have any kind of issue with this BIOS update to 1.30? I also found it odd that on the Bios update description it does not have any kind of information apart from the word "BIOS".

Any help?

    ys,

You should be able to use a lesser version to reflash, I see that there are quite a few on our support site, why do you say you can't downgrade?
