Acer Iconia 6120 one Ram Slot failed, put a single 8GB stick in the working slot?

Hello,

I have an Acer Iconia 6120 and unfortunately I'm pretty sure one of the Ram slots failed. The computer will turn on but go no further if I have a stick of Ram in the second slot (if anyone knows a fix for this please let me know). I did upgrade to Windows 10 and I'm not sure if that could have caused any problems. I am running the latest Bios. So currently I am running it on one stick of 4GB Ram in the one slot. It runs okay but I'd love to upgrade it to one stick of 8GB Ram. Does anybody know if this is possible? I know they do make an 8GB stick with the correct specifications but I am not sure if running a single 8GB stick is supported in the Bios.

Thanks for your time and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Switching slots like is not a valid test of slot failure. Your BIOS advertised support is 8GB. I suggest you first use Crucial's upgrade scanner on your system before making any firm upgrade decisions. Jack E/NJ
