Acer Aspire Webcam

Driver For Crystal Eye Webcam.

I have an acer aspire 1810TZ with integrated webcam. I am running windows 7 64 bit. When the computer boots The Device manager detects an "unknown device" in the USB controller section with the error message "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)".

In initially I tried uninstalling then scanning for hardware changes but the unknown device error reappeared.

Since the aspire comes with a webcam and the webcam does not launch I suspect the unknown device is the webcam.

I have tried uninstalling the device in Device Manager, switching off computer, removing all USB connections and rebooting without success. The unknown device is still detected. Automatically searching for the updated driver responds with "the best driver for your device is already installed".

I have tried installing all 3 camera device drivers, one at a time listed on the acer support site
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html (chicony, liteon, suyin) but without success.

With the exception of the webcam there are no other issues with the laptop.

Any suggestions or input gratefully received.

Many thanks.

    Hi Sanawi3,

Thanks for your feedback. I have tried fixing the error code 43 both by updating the drivers automatically (Slimdrivers) as well as manually (up to date drivers downloaded and installed from Acer website) without success (see above).

Since the problem persists it may be the webcam that is damaged itself. I will order a new webcam, dismantle the laptop install and hope that fixes the problem.
