  • Hi Sunil

    1. Under BIOS do you find any devices under Others / Unknown devices.
    2. Did you try to install Latest drivers from acer support,.

    Hi Sathya!

    Thanks for your response.

No, not under BIOS but under Control Pnel>Device Manager, yes there is "Other Devices>Unknown Device" with a yellow sign on it.

I have installed latest drivers from Acer support. Upgrded the BIOS and tried everything in general.

It was working fine when I bought this notebook till i had to restore my windows 8 to factory settings. Since then Bluettoth has not worked.

I tried unstalling this unknown device. it uninstalls and then i can see Bluetooth under Device Manager but with the same Yellow sign. When I update Drivers for Bluetooth, it finds drivers online but does not install them with an error message "Device has been marked for deletion"

    Regards

    Sunil

You can try the driver that came with it and worked with it.

Use the following steps to reinstall a driver or application on your computer:

    1. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key to open the Start screen.
    2. Type Recovery in the search box.
    3. Click Acer Recovery Management in the search results.

NOTE If asked to allow the program to make changes, click Yes.

    4. Click Reinstall Drivers or Applications.
    5. On the Contents tab, locate the driver or application you wish to install and click the Install icon.

NOTE Additional Windows Features may be required for some program installations. Be sure you download and install these Features.

    6. Follow the prompts to install the driver or application.

If you still have the Yellow exclamation mark:

    Windows logo key + x
    click on Device manager

if Yellow exclamation mark is present
    double click on it
    choose "Details" tab
    from dropdown menu, select HardwareIDs
click on the first value and copy/paste it here

    still Yellow exclamation mark

Can you please try to update drivers manually?

double click on the BT device with yellow exclamation mark, click on driver tab, install or update drivers, browse my computer for driver software

browse to the folder where you unzipped the Atheros package and look under \Bluetooth_Atheros_8.0.1.305_W81x64\DriverOnly\drivers_Win8.1\production\Windows8.1-x64\Bluetooth-Driver\

    and select atheros_bth.inf

Tried to update drivers by clicking on yellow exclamation mark under "Other Devices>Unknown Device" and got the following error message. I have taken a screen shot and paste it here.

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered a problem while attempting to install it.

    Bluetooth USB Module

The specified service has been marked for deletion.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

Please note I am running Win 8 and not Win 8.1

Shall I then look under Win 8 folder or Win 8.1 folder in response to your last mail.

I tried to update driver using the yellow exclamation mark but got the following message (screenshot attached)

Tried installing both (Win 8 64 bit and Win 8.1) manually. I get to select Buetooth driver only and not the driver "atheros_bth.inf"

error message is same as I sent on the last screen shot.

There's something that create a conflict during install, maybe some old drivers or bluetooth service.

can you check on program and features if any bluetooth installation program is in list?

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate the time you have given me. The situation is as follows:

    1. Under Control Panel>Device Manager, no Bluetooth, only Other Devices

    2. Under Control Panel>Uninstall Program, Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64)

3, No Bluetooth icon in Icon Tray.

I think it is more a problem of that Bluetooth switch being greyed out that is preventing the drivers to be installed properly. When i start the system, I get a message "BTTray could not be started".

The other issue is, when I go to Start>Devices i get a message "Nothing can be sent from the Desktop" and I only see the "SEcond Screen" icon. Werlier I used to see all devices here.

    Regards

    Sunil

    have you uninstalled this?

    2. Under Control Panel>Uninstall Program, Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64)

then on device manager, uninstall the Bluetooth device, reboot and retry to install drivers manually.
