I need help with an Acer Aspire 7750G-9810 laptop. The keyboard has mostly stopped working. A few symbol keys and the backspace key work as well as the numeric keypad. The letters do not work at all. I had closed the laptop and when I opened it up to use it next the keyboard did not work. I have tried restarting the computer using normal shut down as well as a hard shut down (holding the power button down until it shut off). I have checked the device manager, it shows it is functioning properly. I also checked the driver, it says it is up to date. The touchpad mouse is working. Anyone have any advice on what to do next? I can use the onscreen keyboard or a wireless keyboard.

As long as nothing was spilled or the unit was dropped that would typically mean that the keyboard itself could be defective, the keyboard ribbon could be loose, or the motherboard could be defective. Depending on your level of expertise, you can check the ribbon cable to make sure it did not come loose from the motherboard, otherwise you might have to take the system to a local technician and see about getting some assistance.
