Good evening all my name is John and in need of some help. Please Smiley Sad

I have an Aspire 7535, oldish unit with Vista 64bit. LAst week the hard drive just died so I have replaced this, all good. Obviously there is no operating system on this so I need to reinstall this......however

1. Where can I locate an operating system boot disc or file ?

2. The serial number and M/soft code on the base of my laptop are also faded so I can't make out the numbers/codes

3. Aser want £50+ to reinstal the above Smiley Sad

Can anyone offer any support? ALT and F10 does not work (partition restore)

Many thanks

Jay

If you didn't make backup media, then you seem to have have 5 options. (1) Try to make out the SNID as best you can to see if the ACER store's eRecovery site will offer either USB or DVD eRecovery media (2) Re-install the orginal failed HDD to see if its hidden partition is still intact to allow an ALT+F10 eRecovery (3) Purchase Win10 installation media for the new HDD (4) Download and install one of the Linux operating systems like Mint (5) Purchase a new Win10 laptop.

Option 5 might be your most practical solution at this point.
