A friend gave me an Acer Aspire 5742G with Core i3 m370 CPU. I replaced the harddisk with a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB. I am having problems with replacement of the 2+1GB DDR3 (1333MHZ) memory with 4+4GB Kingston KVR13S9S8K2/8 (1333Mhz DDR3) memory.
I installed Windows 10 32-bits NL using 2+1GB and installed 4+4GB afterwards, the laptop booted OK, showing 4+4GB but obviously not having 8GB available. Windows memtest ran OK. A Windows 10 64-bits NL install USB hung after displaying the Windows logo, A Kernel Security Check BSOD and eventually the laptop even powered off.
I installed Windows 10 64-bits NL using 2+1GB and installed 4+4GB afterwards. The same thing happened again. I tried using only 1 memory module, switching memory modules and memory slots. Same result.
I have run out of ideas. The only thing I can think of is a faulty MMU. Anyone with other ideas (and hopefully one that solves the problem)?
