    Hi gregmcdaniel

The Samsung 840 evo drives always get rave reviews, but are still quite expensive. Amazon.com (US) is selling one for $475! Sandisk & Kingston are highly recommended too. Indeed I have a Kingston in my E1-531 & it is FAST!

Also the eMachines W3609 is likely to be a SATA 2 mobo & not a SATA 3, so performance, even though will be better than a standard HDD, will not be as quick.

Have you thought about a hybrid (SSHD) drive?

As for USB PCIe cards, any should fit (& often need a spare molex connector to power it, so check your PSU). See this one here.
