I have an e machine ET1352G running iOS 8. Since updating I have a problem with my screen flickering

Since the update, my screen will only flicker a few seconds and goes black. I thought it was the monitor, so I bought another one and it does the same thing. I then thought it might be the onboard video card, and bought a new card installed it, installed the drivers...and to no avail, the flickering continues. It's gotten so bad I can no longer use the computer. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That should say running Windows 8, not iOS. ????

    Shekatzy,

Did you purchase a retail copy of Windows 8 and use it to upgrade from Windows 7, is that what you are referring to when you say update?

Do you experience this issue in the BIOS or safe mode?

To me it sounds like a software issue since you tried a video card and different monitor to troubleshoot (excellent!). My suggestion would be to remove all display drivers before updating to Windows 8 and letting Windows 8 install the necessary drivers as it upgrades to see if the problem continues.

No, I did an update from an offer online. Windows 7 came pre installed. Sadly, I have no disk or would have reinstalled windows 7. I hate windows 8. If I can ever get it the display to stay on long enough, I will give it a try. It literally starts the whole flashing immediately and then goes black. Smiley Sad

    Shekatzy,

If you want to check, out your serial number in on our store website and see if the recovery media is available.

I was able to get it stable for a few minutes and got it in safe mode. I then removed all graphics drivers, restarted and checked the device. It said windows basic driver, I then installed my driver on cd... I had high hopes, 5 minutes later it was back to the flashing and black screen. Smiley Sad. I ordered the recovery cd today, my last hope.

    Shekatzy,

You are installing the monitor drivers that came on the CD with the monitor, did you try and download the drivers from the manufacturer's website for that monitor to make sure they are the Windows 8 supported drivers?

No, I installed the video driver on the cd that came with the new video card I installed.

    Shekatzy,

Ah, well, which video card did you get? The problem might be that the video card is pulling too much power from the power supply, unless you upgraded the one that shipped with this desktop, I believe it was a 220 watt power supply.
