I have been searching for an Acer notebook withOUT a Canadian Bilingual keyboard.
Anyone have an idea how I can purchase one? It seems most USA retailers are not shipping to Canada due to their billing system not being able to change countries for billing verifications. We did contacat one Acer reseller and they stated that the manufacturer prohibits them to sell to people in Canada
"
Due to restrictions placed upon us by the manufacturer, we are not able to sell this item to you. The manufacturer will not allow us to sell this item where the final destination is outside the United States.
"
(shipping to a physical US mailing point close to the border) because the computers are not allowed in Canada. Yup..... (unbelievable) .
Anyway = can anyone be of assistance. We have spent over 12 hours in researching and repackaging notebooks.
(Hey Acer - MOST people in Canada do not speak, read or write French
Obviously you have taken the easy way out to market to this country by putting a bilingual keyboard in every store and every online retailer. )
I have asked the ACER USA support staff if I could buy directly from their site and they said "no". When asked where I could find a non-bilingual keyboard they said .. they could not be of assistance.
I have spent over $80 on shipping and return shipping on Acer notebooks that show english only keyboards.
Help! Please.
We use Acer throughout our offices and just because we live in Canada doesnt' mean we speak francais!
Thanks. Alan

It is going to be very hard to find an English only keyboard in Canada, due to legal requirements requiring companies to provide English and French. You may have to order one from US and have it shipped.

I feel for you. I'm in the middle of a marathon exchange with ACER Support about my bilingual keyboard. (I'm in Canada.) I don't understand why you care about which keyboard you have. Just select English (US) as your language, and away you go with a unilingual keyboard.

Haven't you ever compared a bilingual keyboard with a non-bilingual keyboard? Its more than setting the language as English or French.
The bilingual keyboards have small shift keys... which is why tens of thousands of Canadians hate bilingual keyboards.
Try googling "Canada Bilingual keyboard" and see what pops up.

I'm not sure that I can understand what difficulty you are facing.
My bilingual Canadian keyboard has a left shift that is 1 and 1/3 as wide as 'normal' keys. The right shift is 3 times as wide. This is the keyboard that came with my Acer. I have found that Canadians do not tend to express emotions as intense as hate over such petty items as shift key width. We are much more mellow (and multicultural) than that.
I was in Staples over the weekend and saw several unilingual (English) keyboards at comparable pricing. If you don't like the keyboard that you have, invest in a more appropriate (for you) one.
