Re: eMachines class action web site

Hello rebrands,

Thanks for your rapid reply. I am able to access my BIOS if I do a ‘Restart’. On a Restart, I get a single beep and shortly after that, a brief prompt at the lower left of the screen to hit ‘Delete’.

After looking over the BIOS entrees concerning SATA drives, I think the most likely cause of your not being able to use a second hard drive is that the drive you are trying to use is not capable of running in AHCI mode. The drives in the AT3-600-UR33 are SATA AHCI and the BIOS is factory configured to use SATA ACHI mode. AHCI is a relatively new standard and plenty of the older SATA drives can’t use it.

I do have some more thoughts on the matter so please let me know if you think your second hard drive is indeed capable of AHCI.

Regards,

Re: eMachines class action web site

AHCI is a new one to me, I'll have to research it.  I had tried doing restarts and shutdowns to bring up the BIOS with no luck, however, today I discovered that if I do a power failure (unplug) shutdown it will then bring up the BIOS after the beep and delete key.  I have not taken it any farther yet.  The hard drive I wanted to add is a couple years old, so it may not be compatable.  Thanks for the tip.

To clarify, there are two USB 3.0 port in the front and two in the back.  Also two 2.0 in front and four 2.0 USBs on back.  I did not notice any extras on the motherboard.

Re: eMachines class action web site

I too am interested in the Acer Celeron G1620 2.7GHz Desktop PC |AT3-600-UR33 but am not able to find any specs on computer when searched the internet and that link that someone provided is giving me an error message.  I would like to know what the RAM can be expanded to from the 4GB that comes with the unit?  How many memory slots?  Video memory? Can I stream netflix on this computer?? Can the computer only be used wireless??  I have a modem/router now that I would like to continue to use.  I am looking for a madchine that I can expand as necessary.  Any of the above info would be greatly appreciated! I am not all the knowledgeable but do know what I do want vs what I don't.  Thanks for any help!

Re: eMachines class action web site

I can't answer all your questions, but I'll give you what I know/opinions.  There are four RAM slots, one occupied by the provided 4GB stick, so there are three more available.  What it can be expanded to I don't know.  The existing RAM stick is labeled: 4GB 2RX8 PC3L.  Video memory, I don't know. There is no dedicated video card, it's imbeded on the mother board, so I suppose it is what it is.  Streaming Netflix, not a clue.  I don't know what you mean by used only wireless - I use a wireless router that the computer sees as it comes out of the box.  I don't know what a madchine is.  There seems to be some expansion capability.  It will accommodate two monitors, but the catch is that one is driven by the VGA port and the other driven by the HDMI port, so it you have two VGA monitors you'll need a HDMI to VGA converter cable, not expensive from Amazon.  I tried to add another internal hard drive, but the computer did not recognize it.???  My assessment is that there is some expansion capability, but it is likely somewhat limited, but what do you expect for free?  I hope this helps.

Re: eMachines class action web site

I want to thank you so much for helping me.  my desktop no longer works and i am using used lap top wich does not type corectly.  i am disabled so I cannot get out to find answers aned have to rely on internet.  You helped me a great deal!  I think i am just going to go for this one as the stress is killing me on what might or might not become available from here even though my ticket i good until July. Do you agree with that?  I have not been on here for very long so do not have idea of what other machines have become avail...is this pretty much as good as it gets? I do not really want refurbished but a lot of people on here have had lot of problems with new too.  I just wanted to get the largest amount of RAM that i could so machine can grow with me. I GB-2GB no longer enough to run all that i want to at one time.  I hope it can stream netflix, my used crappy 1 GB lap top can so really should think this could.  I am very thankful that you responded to me and would appreciate your opinion in regards to waiting to see what else comes up or taking this one...sounds like you have been watching this unfold for a while. Thank you!!!

Re: eMachines class action web site

Well, I suppose you could wait, but I don't think things will change much as far as choices go.  I probably would prefer a new rather than refurbished.  I'm happy with my machine, but I don't ask much of it, e-mail, photos, and news mostly.  It's very quiet and boots up fast.  I'm no fan of Windows 8 though.  The made for touch screen icons are a pain.  I don't like having to re-learn how to do the same things I did in XP.  Again, it's a free computer.  It's not going to do as much or be as capable as a lot of others that you would have to spend a lot more for.  Think of it as an interim computer to use until you can afford a bigger one.

Re: eMachines class action web site

Does anyone know if the HDMI port on back of this AT3-600-UR33 can handle a 2540x1440 resolution monitor ?

Re: eMachines class action web site

For those who got and used the desktop from emachines rdeem site,  at3-600-ur33, I will appreciate any feedback regarding how the computer functions after a while before getting into any hardship.

I use it for email, browsing some word and spread**bleep** stuff.

By the way, how difficult is it to transfer programs, files from XP to win 8 which this computer is.

Thank you for your help
