Hello, I am loking for advice regarding a BIOS malfunction after changing the CMOS battery on my laptop. I am getting a blue error screen and a refusal to start Windows. I have changed the time and date in the BIOS but still get the error. I am running Win 7. All was well before the battery change except for having to change the time and date settings everytime I booted up. I just wondered if anyone could advise on the problem or if there is an updated BIOS which I could download.

Many thanks, Peter.

    i still suspect something on ram module.

    by the way, double check CMOS battery charge and if it's correctly seat +/-

    Can you try to boot with just one ram module at time?

    there is any error message on the blue screen?

    are you able to report it?

    Please check if ram modules are well seated.

    Hello Ironfly, many thanks for your reply regarding m extensa 5220. I think the error codes you asked for are these;

    Technical information:

    *** STOP:0x0000000A (0X00000034, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0X8A8BCAAF)

    I have checked the Ram modules and seem to be OK.

    The main tab on the BIOS screen is showing

    System memory 640 KB

    Extended Memory 3862 MB

    Video Memory 8 MB

    I hope this means something to you and thanks again for you help.

    Regards Peter66

    Hello again IronFly, congratulations you really are the Ace. You were right, it was the RAM modules. I took them out for the forth time but wiped the contacts this time with a little switch cleaner on some tissue, replaced just one and the computer booted up. Replaced the other and it booted again. Problem solved. Thank you so much for your help.

    Regards
