I "Refreshed" my Acer laptop several days ago because it had been acting a bit funky lately. Well, my Microsoft Word program was completely erased! Now i'm unable to access/open any of my saved documents! I've recieved a prompt asking me to purchase a Word program for $149!!! I prev purchased my Word program when I was a college student at a huge fraction of that price...I do not have the funds to re-purchase! How do I get my program back??? What Happened???? Please HELP!

    Hi ann,

I'm not sure there is a way that the computer is going to be able to get it back, but depending on how you obtained the program in the first place, you should be able to provide the key or download it again directly from Microsoft.

Short term solution: Here is a link to the Microsoft Word Viewer, you can't edit, but you can at least access your files with this program: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4

So basically, there are two types of Office installs out there. The older style is that you have a key somewhere, it may be on a certificate or something like that. It should also provide instructions on how to install Office again. The newer style, the one that ships on our products for the last year or more is Office 365, which is a monthly or year subscription service and if you have time left you can log into your Microsoft account and install Office again directly from Microsoft. Here is link where you would sign in. https://products.office.com/en-US/

Here what my personal account looks like once I've logged in.
