E5-521-23KH: How to install Acer Recovery Management App after refresh?

Hi,

My grandmother refreshed her laptop, which uninstalled all her desktop apps. I've been reinstalling the ones that came with the laptop (Acer Care Center, Launch Manager, etc.) but I can't find where to download the Recovery Management App. I tried to use "autorun" to install it as one thread here recommended (http://community.acer.com/t5/2013-Archives/Lost-Acer-programs-due-to-Windows-8-System-Refresh-on-Aspire/td-p/2055) but the installer says, "a program run as part of this setup did not finish as expected."

I'm tempted to just backup her files and restore to factory settings, but would that even work without this app? (what I read here: http://community.acer.com/t5/2014-Archives/Can-i-remove-acer-recovery-management-on-a-laptop-with-windows-8/td-p/284154 makes me think it wouldn't)

Thanks.

    Hello,

You can restore the laptop to the factory settings using [Alt]+[F10]. Watch this video.

That will work even without the recovery management program? If so, then is this program not really needed?

Yes, that will work. Acer recovery management under Windows is useful to create the factory recovery media (e.g. when HDD is defective), to reinstall the original drivers or to restore to factory settings.
