Hi. I'm getting an error trying to run the latest BIOS tool. Update EC code version 1.31

Category Vendor Description Version Size Date

BIOSAcerUpdate EC code1.3113.1 MB2015/08/25

Once downloaded, extracted file, open folder > data folder open Z5WAH131 app I get error message

Warning:
Current region DESC does not have R/W rights.

BIOSV1.31ERROR.jpg

I have run the program in both normal mode and with administration rights with no joy.

I don't normally have issues updating BIOS. It is simply download, extract, run updater... the rest takes cares of itself. Not this time though Smiley Sad

have you followed the instructions on the pdf file?

you need to run the 2 .bat files to update to 1.31 version

    I'm not an Acer employee.

It doesnt work for my E5-571G under Win10. I followed the instructions but no result. Same error message with the previous guy. Your help would be useful.

Plug in your laptop to mains. Do not proceed on battery power.

    step 1: unzip BIOS_Acer_1.31_A_A to C:

step 2: press WINKEY and X then click on Command Prompt (Admin)

step 3: click Yes to Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your PC?

    step 4:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32> CD\

    C:\> cd BIOS_Acer_1.31_Windows

    C:\BIOS_Acer_1.31_Windows>

    step 5: C:\BIOS_Acer_1.31_Windows> Step1.bat

    system will reboot automatically.

step 6: follow step 2,3,4 again then at C:\BIOS_Acer_1.31_Windows> Step2.bat

system will reboot automatically followed by the normal BIOS updater at boot.

system should be updated to v1.31. you can check by searching msinfo and clicking on System information. The system summary page will have your BIOS Version/Date

I had the same problem as well. But then I had switched OFF User Account Control. I did the procedure again with UAC switched ON. Then it worked.

    Cheers!

Updating in 2021. On Windows 10 v.21H1 for me to upgrade bios. I had to activate administrator account and log in under it. After that completely disabled UAC in settings and in register they are three settings there did you have to set the zero and Reboot. Then I just simply ran Step1.bat by double-clicking on the file (no need to run cmd). Reboot. Then ran Step2.bat... all this under administrator account.. now my bios under v.1.31.
How to activate administrator account you just simply YouTube it, how to disable UAC through the register you can YouTube it as well.
