Bought an Acer Aspire E17 in Feb.  Optical drive stopped working, Acer walked me throught how to fix it.  Now it goes to "preparing automatic repair" and takes forever.  Then it tells me "failed to restart properly" and just shuts off.  If I do a system restore, it gets me back in.  How do I stop my laptop from doing this every single day???

After you have finished the system restore, are you connecting any type of USB storage device or a CD, DVD that you always put in the optical drive?

If so, open AutoPlay and uncheck Use Autoplay for all Media and Devices.Go to computer, right click on the storage device and click Scan this Device with (your antivirus).

Download Malwarebytes free,to enable the Scan this file with Mlwarebytes:

    To enable this:
    1. Open MBAM 2.1.
    2. Click Settings -> General Settings.
    3. Click Yes for Explorer context menu entry.
    4. Close MBAM 2.1.
    5. Navigate to the file, folder, or other item you wish to scan.
    6. Right-click the item, and then click Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
