Video resolution drops from 1366x768 to 1280x768 when I connect to HD TV using HDMI

I just purchased an aspire E3-111-C32T. The resolution on my laptop screen is 1366x768. When I connect the laptop to my SONY WEGA HD TV using HDMI, the resolution drops to 1280x768 and my laptop screen does not fit on the HD TV screen.

The resolution needs to remain as 1366x768 to get the entire laptop screen to be displayed on the TV. I have a another laptop that displays perfectly on the tv at 1366x768.

Does anyone know how to set the resolution on my ACER laptop to remain at 1366x768 when I connect to the HD TV?

If anyone knows, please reply as soon as you can.

Thanks!

if you clone the desktop, the lowest resolution will be choosen, so you can't use an higher resolution of 1280x768 if your TV is 720p or HD-Ready only.

are you sure that the other laptop is syncing 1366x768 or is just streching the 1280x768 resolution?

    Hi,

The other laptop (a Gateway lt3201h) did use 1366X768. When reviewing screen resolution when that laptop was connected to the HD TV, it displayed as 1366x768. See the attached screenshot: (image displayed is upside down)

    Connected via HDMI?

    strange.

probably if you have AMD/ATi video card on your Gateway, this is somehow possible with scaling option:

    Hi,

The problem appeared to be with the Intel Graphics chipset in the ACER. I replaced that laptop with a similar one with an AMD/ATI graphics chipset and this works OK...video resolution stays at 1366x768 when connected to an HD TV via HDMI.

    Thanks
