The Left hinge of my Acer Aspire M has become faulty.  The bottom hinge appears to be lose and the top has separated creating a gap.  I have been carefull using it and have read of others with this fault.

What is your question? We could probably use the whole model number too.

Thanks for getting back to me Philetus

    The model is Aspire M3-581PTG

I would like some advice.  It appears to be a problem with this exact model.  What can I do about it? Is it something I can repair myself and if so what do I need to do?  Will Acer have it fixed for me?

I haven't tried closing my laptop since the hinge failed.  I fear that would separate the screen. The gap above the hinge on the edge of the screen is about 3mm.  It began moving the curser to the bottom left corner every second for a while tonight.  I'm concerned it may stop being usable at all.

I'm in the UK.  I've owned the laptop for about 20 months.  Soon after first buying it the screen occassinally fickered - It may be unrealated but I now wonder if you know if the two issues are related.
