Hi,

I have a Acer Aspire E1 571, and i installed windows 8 pro, then upgrade to 8.1 pro, now my ram show that i have 6 Gig ram but only 2.45 avalable.

I tried to reinstall windows but it wont, i tried to use acer recovery( at boot press Alt + F10). nothing happens

Same when i tried to install i trough windows itself, after i enter the product key, it ask what i want to keep( nothing)

then it shows that there is things that i need to resolve, but there is only a blank page that shows nothing.

I also tried to boot from the disk, but when i press istall now, an error pops up, saying that the product key i entered is invalid. but it never asked for one.

Any idea How i might fix this.

Kind Regards,

Philip Pienaar

if you try to create a recovery media using Acer erecovery, are you able to do it or the option is greyed?

Acer Recovery does not open, or show up.

Can you take a screenshot and post it here of your HDD partitions with windows disk management?

    Whoa!

    4 recovery partitions.

ok the Acer recovery partition is the biggest, 15,76GB, so we must try to enable Acer erecovery (or windows) to create a recovery media to boot and re-install windows 8.

let's try the easy fix first:

Press windows key logo + r

    type
    diskpart

    type
    select disk 0

    type

    list partition

(take note of the number of the Acer recovery partition)

    type
    select partition x

(x is the number of the Acer recovery partition, 15.76GB partition)

    type
    assign letter=R

    type
    exit

    then press

    windows key logo + s

    type

    command prompt

right click on its icon and select, run as administrator

    once in the command prompt

    type

    reagentc.exe /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target C:\windows

    close the command prompt

reboot and try create a recovery disk to see if it works

    Unfortunetly that did not work.

Can,t it be the bios, i updated the bios a long time ago, it did not work so i removed the cmos batery to reset the bios, is there no other way?

    Kind regards,

no, it's not a BIOS issue.

so the option is still greyed out?

you can try a raw operation, clone the Ace recovery partition to an USB flash drive and then make it bootable.

you can use Magic partition to do it:
