Hello , im having a problem booting up my laptop. i just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 recently. my laptop won't boot up the first time ( the Acer logo appears and the cycling dots turn but then the screen goes black ) so then i turns the laptop off ( pressing the on/off button for several seconds until the blue indicator light turns off ) and then it boots up ok the second time when pressing the on button. haven't the faintest idea on what to do. Anyone willing to help out is appreciated. Thank you. Bye , Neil

    Jamesthehawk,

I would recommend you perform a refresh to fix possible files issues.

    Jamesthehawk,

You can attempt to perform the ALT+F10 at the Acer splash screen feature to initiate the recovery partition and see if that gets you going on the right path.

i did a factory reset back to windows 8.1 ahain. that worked out fine. maybe some files got corrupted or went missing during the upgrade. it took a hour to reset. thank s to everyone for the help.  bye James.

Thanks.  My Acer E5-511 works fine when I used the the Win 10 recovery and go back to Win 8.1.  When I reinstalled Win 10 it had the same problem with the brightness bar.

I will try the Microsoft Win 10 Reset today and report back.  Until then changing the brightness settings works ok for me.

    Thanks,

    Dale

Acer has published a set of drivers for the E5-511 today.  I installed the Win10 display driver and the display setting bar problem is now solved.
